Welcome to Draft Day, 2026.
With a PhD in Rosemanian Thought, I have endeavored to foresee a draft with trades.
For what it’s worth, the simulator gave me an A-minus for my toil.
I traded the No. 23 and 68 overall picks to the New Jets to move up to No. 16. And with that pick I took Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq (pictured above). Sadiq is far and away the best tight end in this class, having a run a record time for a tight end at the combine. He can line up at tight end, in the slot and even in the backfield and be ready to take over for Dallas Goedert after the season.
I then traded the second round pick (54th overall) to the Minnesota Vikings for Edge Jonathan Greenard to end the perceived crisis at that position.
With the 54th pick actually returned to the Jets (it came by virtue of the Haason Reddick heist), we have to wait until pick 98 at the end of the second round, where the choice was Penn State offensive tackle Drew Shelton.
I then traded the 114th overall pick to New Orleans for the 132nd and 150th overall picks. With those, I took guard Jaden Farmer of Kentucky and wide receiver Malachi Fields, all 6-4 1/2 and 218 pounds of him, out of Notre Dame.
At 150 overall, the choice was North Dakota State south paw quarterback Cole Payton of North Dakota State (hold your Carson Wentz jokes).
At 163, the choice was too easy. Texas safety Michael Taafe played alongside Andew Mukuba in college and roommates and was sitting right there.
Next were back-to-back picks. At 178, the choice was Auburn edge rusher Kenyon Crawford and, at 179. I selected versatile WR/RB Eli Heidenreich out of Navy.
At pick 197, I went with Toledo corner Andre Fuller, figured Quinyon Mitchell could be a mentor.
